Darryl Legg’s recreates a typical Battle of Britain scenario with Hurricanes of No. 1 Squadron duelling with Messerschmitt Me109’s during the height of the Battle. His all-action painting provides a wonderful study of the Hurricane, its ribbed stretched canvas rear section providing a reminder of its pre-war heritage. Hurricane Battle of Britain ace Frank Carey said f the Hurricane: “It was built like the Forth Bridge and could take enormous punishment and get you home” And Pete Brothers: “A beautifully balanced fighter, a joy to fly, and its gun positions gave slightly more concentrated fire than the Spitfire”.
